Anabolic Steroids - Increasing sex drive and improving performance

Dude, I went to that MedlinePlus site by the library of medicine, and I couldn't find ANYTHING positive about Anabolic Steroids (AS). In fact just the opposite. The articles and research seemed to be very radical against the use of AS especially for athletes. I just did a search and typed in "Anabolic Steriods". I didn't have time to read EVERYTING, but I saw a MOUNTAIN of
stuff backing up what I have been saying all along. In fact, I learned of some nasty and deadly side effects that I was not aware of.

I also visited the site for the American Medical Association (AMA) and found pretty much the same type of negative stuff . I did see some good results with HIV waisting. I also found some studies on pro-hormones and androsteindione and the study confirmed that the stuff DOES NOT WORK. In other words, it does not promote increase in muscle mass or strength, HOWEVER, it DOES cause steroid-like side effects, like INCREASING ESTROGEN. I even found research AGAINST the use of AS in cattle and the food we eat.

Then I visited what I call "Quack" sites. These are sites run by Roid Heads that try to teach people how to use AS. THEY even acknowledged and warn people of the dangerous side effects and did a pretty good job of explaining them.

I was going to post research from hard copy that I have been accumulating since the 70s because I assumed that the net was full of bogus stuff. But I didn't find that on the net. All I found was a MOUNTAIN of research and articles that supported what I already knew. And I found nothing to confirm that the media is blowing anything out of proportion. Although I'm sure they do sometimes as they do with everything. But I will tell you this, I was ass-deep in this whole scene LONG before Lyle Alzado died and it was COMMON knowledge that Roids were dangerous.

I realize that you are NOT a troll and that you are sincere, so I have two questions for you.

1. Where are you finding this stuff? If one looks hard enough, they can find the needles in the haystack to support what they WANT to believe? A little word to the wise... there are NO magic bullets or fountains of youth. No matter how much we want to believe otherwise, there is a PRICE to be payed for everything.

2. What IS your position. In other words, define precisely what it is that you are for or against. I might be a little confused on that now.

My position is this, I have NO problem with Anabolic Steroids being used for medical reasons by a competent Doctor. And I applaud the recent results with HIV. It should also be noted though that The University of Miami has been getting much BETTER results with HIV waisting from their anti-viral "cocktails" and protease inhibitors with research on inmates. But that's
getting off the subject.

In fact, I believe that people should be able to do as they please with their OWN body. But they should be well informed in order to make that decision. EVERYONE who smokes, KNOWS that the stuff is dangerous. AND most people who do Roids for cosmetic or athletic reasons KNOW that the stuff is dangerous, yet they assume that risk in much the same way as a smoker does.

My problem is telling people that they are NOT dangerous and not to worry about it because the media is lying about it. This is like telling kids that there are NO dangers in smoking when there is a mountain of research that suggests otherwise. THIS could lead some of these younger fellows to go do something stupid. And they don't know that the stuff can stunt their growth and cause their bones to stop growing, which was also on your Medline site. In fact, there was an entire section on that site devoted to convincing teens NOT to experiment with steroids.

It is obvious even from your own posts that someone REALLY has to know their shit in order to TRY to use the stuff safely. How many people would know how to take the stuff without getting bitch tits? Also, a lot of these kids that log onto this site might not know that the stuff is a FELONY. There are SO many dangers with buying this stuff off the street that legal problems are only part of it.

For me personally, I think it is very wise to wait until their is a general consensus among the Medical community before trying ANYTHING. Another thing that concerns me greatly is that there is little LONG TERM research concerning the use of this stuff by athletes.

But I will share some of my 30 years experience for what it's worth. Of ALL the people that I worked out with back in the 70s and 80s, ALL of the Roid users have fallen by the wayside. They burnt themselves out in so many ways that the ones who are still alive are fat, androgynous, unhealthy, blobs of shit, who are plagued by numerous health problems and some have constant pain. MOST of them CAN'T workout anymore. MANY have died LONG before their time. In fact, two died this month in their early 40s. So many of them have had strange tumors, aneurisms, heart attacks , etc. I won't even go into all the stuff they went though while they were still working out.

Many suffered SEVERE muscle tears. Most people don't know that Roids cause the muscle to become too strong, too fast, and the connective tissue simply can't keep up. The muscles are literally TORN OFF THE BONE. There is NO more sickening feeling than HEARING someone's muscle tear it's self apart. It sounds like a cardboard box being torn in half. I hate seeing a young good-looking kid get disfigured. I NEVER saw this type of injury in a natural trainer. For most of them, a tear this severe means the end of any
meaningful training. Many of the Roid users destroyed their joints in the same fashion. Today, many of them can't even do simple tasks without PAIN.

ALL of the people I trained with who were NATURAL are still alive and still HEALTHY. A few died in accidents, but everyone else is fine. Some of us are STILL working out. NOW at my age, I am STRONGER than many of the ROID heads who were in their 20s. Because I did it the RIGHT way. It takes LONGER, but it stays with you LONGER, and I am STILL around, training and HEALTHY. Like I said earlier, THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH, there IS A PRICE TO BE PAID, one way or the other. My strength increases are gradual so my joints and connective tissue can keep up. I have NEVER had a major lifting injury. Isn't LONGEVITY important??? I look at some of the top dogs from back then like Mike Mentzer and Frank Zane, and they look like shit. Not only am I stronger, healthier, but I LOOK better than they do. They have BLOWN THEIR WAD.

Another natural trainer who I've known since 1980 is even stronger than I am and is OLDER than I am. We keep getting a little better every year. Also, I have always been heavily involved in the Martial Arts, and almost ALL of those guys are still around and still HEALTHY and look pretty good. Except for one guy that became a crack-head and went to prison. NONE of those guys were on Roids. And we were involved in a BRUTAL full-contact sport that takes it's toll on the body. In fact, one of my training partners, Don Wilson 47, just made a comback fight not long ago and KOd the guy who was much younger than him. I'm sure there is probably a freak roid-head somewhere who demonstrates some longevity, but they are few and far between. I could almost write a book about all the Roid Horror stories, but I think you get the point.

Anyway, I have spent almost 30 years watching young hot-shot Roidheads come into the gym, BLOW THEIR WAD, then fade away.

If there really is a fountain of youth, it is found by doing things the RIGHT way. A balance of exercise, nutrition, and natural supplements. It's just another example of the Tortoise and the Hare. I truly believe that if you follow this pattern, then someday you will be doing HBs that are young enough to be your daughter, and you'll still look pretty good doing it. I don't think you will find your fountain of youth in a bottle or a syringe, but you may open a Pandora's Box.
